Remember to believe in yourself. It goes a long way.
If you think it doesn't make much difference, picture a new startup where the founder didn't believe in the product or their ability to execute. How likely do you think they would be to succeed?
They would always be getting in the way and self-sabotaging themselves subconsciously.
Same with sports, does any pro go in saying, "yeah, I don't think I can win this match, but let's see what happens... "?
Sometimes it's hard to convince yourself that a positive outcome is likely if you just believe, but it's easy to see that if you don't believe in yourself, the negative result will be much more likely.
Just flip the equation.
Be optimistic and have full conviction that you will succeed.
It doesn't make any sense not to.
What happens if you fail?
Well, if you stay optimistic, you can't lose.
You would have enjoyed the process.
That's success right there.
Besides, failure builds character.
Next time, you can try again with even more conviction.
